🕯️ How to Use Fully Refined Paraffin Wax

A step-by-step guide for smooth, fragrant candles

These instructions are based on our own lab tests. Always test different fragrance levels, colors, and temperatures to suit your setup.

We suggest a 3–5% fragrance ratio with our fragrance oils and highly recommend using a digital thermometer for accuracy.

🛠️ Before You Begin

  • Lay down newspaper or protective covering—wax can get messy.

  • Work on a flat, sturdy surface and ensure your wicks are centered and fixed.

  • Use a non-permanent marker to mark the highest fill level on your candle jars.

♨️ Step 1: Gently Melt the Wax

  • Melt the wax using a double boiler method (never directly on the stove).

  • Heat slowly until it reaches 85°C—the wax should look fully clear.

  • Avoid overheating beyond 90°C, as it may impact the final appearance and structure.

🌈 Step 2: Add Colour and Scent

  • If using dye, add it before the fragrance to help it blend smoothly.

  • Stir in your fragrance at 75°C–79°C, mixing slowly for about a minute.

  • When working with paraffin alone, limit fragrance to 3–5% for best results.

🕳️ Step 3: Pour the Wax

  • Let the wax cool to about 70°C before pouring—it should still be transparent.

  • Fill each container 2 cm below the top to allow space for the second pour.

  • Keep the remaining wax aside for topping up later.

  • Make sure your jars are at room temperature to avoid cooling issues.

🧊 Step 4: Cure and Finish

  • Let the candles set undisturbed for 12 hours.

  • Reheat the leftover wax to 65°C–70°C and top up to the fill line.

  • Allow another 12 hours to cure completely.

For best results, paraffin wax can be poured in up to three layers to ensure strong glass adhesion and a flawless surface.
