π Measuring Your Jar
Before choosing a wick, ensure accurate measurements:
-
Place the jar on a stable, flat surface.
-
Measure the inner diameter carefully.
-
Even slight differences can affect wick performance.
-
Tip: Write down the diameter to avoid mistakes when selecting your wick.
πͺ Selecting the Right Wick
Once you’ve measured the jar:
-
Refer to our Wick Size Guide.
-
Match the inner diameter with the corresponding wick type.
β Deciding on One or More Wicks
For wide containers, more than one wick may be necessary:
-
Divide the total diameter by the number of wicks you’ll use.
-
Use that result to choose the correct wick size from the guide.
-
This helps ensure an even burn and prevents tunneling.
π§· Applying the Wick(s)
Secure proper wick placement for safe, effective burning:
-
Apply a small drop of warm glue to the metal base using a glue gun.
-
Press the wick firmly into the center of the jar.
-
For multiple wicks:
-
Lightly mark placement using a non-permanent marker.
-
Divide the space visually and place each wick equally spaced from each other, the sides, and the center.
-
Optionally use strong adhesive dots (e.g., Bostik Extra Strength) for easy application.
-
The wick guidelines provided are based on our internal testing under controlled conditions. Because the addition of fragrance and colorants can significantly impact burn performance, we highly recommend conducting your own burn tests to ensure the best results for your specific formulation.
